Carbon Net Zero In 55 Seconds

Carbon Net Zero is when the weight of greenhouses gases being pumped into the atmosphere by humanity is the same weight absorbed by the natural processes of the oceans, trees and new gas extraction technologies.

By 2050, new technology will reduce carbon emissions. But if an enterprise is still adding greenhouse gases, they will need to purchase carbon credits, representing the same weight of emissions they add to the atmosphere.

Carbon credits are sold by the owners of forests or extraction processes which absorb greenhouse gases.

But there are problems. Many of the new technologies are yet to be developed. The global carbon credits schemes are not regulated, making it easy for dishonest operators to profit.

Join me, Ross MacDowell, when Tony Wood, the Energy Program Director from the Grattan Institute, demystify Carbon Net Zero on the Burgernomics Podcast. Out Now
